Sylvia Thomas is a poet, musician, and artist from Indianapolis, Indiana. For over ten years, Sylvia has been sharing her artistic practice for the galleries and stages through the lens as an Intersex Hoosier understanding the nuance of eroticism, gender, and community. She’s performed her work across the Midwest, the East Coast, Scandinavia, World Pride, EuroGames, the United Nations, the United States Capitol, Berlin, Mexico City, and the Danish Parliament.
Currently, Sylvia is a long-term artist resident at the Contemporary Art Museum of Indianapolis. She is also a ‘24-’25 Creative Renewal Fellow through the Indy Arts Council and a grantee of the Herbert Simon Family Foundation Creative Risk Fund.

Outside of her art practice, she has spent the last eight years as an awarded Public Health professional at Step-Up Inc. She developed initiatives to educate providers on the health disparities of the Transgender community. She launched the organization’s Harm Reduction program and manages one of the Safe Syringe Exchange sites in Marion County.
